The Israeli-Hezbolla war has already produced 150,000 refugees who have left Lebanon and travel to Syria. Israel is concerned that many of the Hezbollah international terrorists may also try to flee because they will eventually be killed if they do not.
Not all Hezbollah fighters despite Arab television broadcasts have the extreme manhood to face the Israeli advancing army. In fact many are running away to save their selves and their lives. It is unknown presently how many Hezbollah fighters are trying to sneak away into Syria.
Meanwhile the United Nations estimates a total of 700,000 total refugees who will be fleeing from Lebanon. Since only < b>150,000 refugees have arrived in Syria and are already causing issues with available places to stay Syria cannot handle another half a million refugees. Israel, which fears that many Hezbollah international terrorists will live to fight another day has bombed bridges and roadways leading from Beirut to Syria.
The United Nations is calling this a huge humanitarian crisis and is considering putting UN troops in southern Lebanon and between the Lebanese-the Israeli borders. Condoleezza Rice is being dispatched to the Middle East to work out a compromise between the Lebanese leadership and army and the Israeli forces.
However to complicate matters the Lebanese leadership has stated that it will fight alongside Hezbollah if Israel invades. Israel has already invaded therefore Condoleezza Rice will have her work cut out for her if she intends to provide a diplomatic solution. Please consider this in 2006.
